Romelu Lukaku: Chelsea striker leaves Belgium camp due to 'muscle fatigue'

Roberto Martinez, head coach of Belgium, says Romelu Lukaku is out of the team because he has "muscle fatigue".
Lukaku, the Chelsea striker, will not be able to attend Sunday's Nations League third-place playoff against Italy in Turin. It will be live on Sky Sports.

The 28-year old scored Belgium's second goal, and played all 90 minutes of their semi-final loss to France 3-2 on Thursday.

Lukaku initially chose to return to Belgium for medical treatment, rather than to his club team.

It's overwhelming. He wasn't feeling 100% to play tomorrow. Martinez spoke out about Belgium's record goal scorer at a pre-match press conference.

"Every decision made involves both medical and legal departments together for the benefit of the player."

Lukaku, who was sold by Inter Milan for a club record 97.5m to Chelsea in the summer, rejoined Chelsea and scored four goals in nine matches for Thomas Tuchel's side.
