This sector is experiencing staff shortages. Travel restrictions are limiting the number of people who can travel to the UK.
Staff in Cornwall claimed that they were made to feel weak by being threatened with violence and sworn at when food was delayed or not served.
Emily Gimblett (20), a Newquay waitress, appealed to social media for "common sense" after she had said that a customer had made her cry.
"She was very, very moody and I just wept.
"I was already reduced to nothing that day... She said, "It's like a lose-lose situation."
"I've never seen it so busy. It is absurd. We can't handle the increase in staff.
"What you say can make or break someone's day. We are still people... we're tired."
Ms Gimblett stated that customers were upset and that she had reached "breaking point".
She stated that holidaymakers were frustrated by the fact that "everywhere is full every night", while staff were exhausted from long hours.
