AT&T TV will officially become DirecTV Stream next week

AT&T TV, its now defunct sibling AT&T TV Now, will be officially known as DirecTV Stream. This new unified service was created by a partnership between TPG Capital (AT&T) and AT&T to stream the streaming properties of the telecommunication giants.
On August 14th, DirecTV informed AT&T TV Now and AT&T TV Now customers that the change had occurred. A spokesperson for DirecTV confirmed that the official change would take place on the mobile apps of both services. DirectTV Stream rebrands AT&T's services acquired through the TPG Capital deal. This deal did not include HBO Max. (WarnerMedia, the home of HBO Max, will merge with Discovery in 2022.

A company news release stated that AT&T satellite, streaming, or IP video customers will automatically retain their video service, any bundled internet, broadband, or HBO Max services and all associated discounts, with no additional action required.

AT&T TV was launched last year as the company's premium TV streaming service. AT&T TV Now, which was the company's skinny streaming package, officially became AT&T TV Now earlier in the year. Customers could no longer sign-up for Now. AT&T TV Now customers will still be able access their accounts, the company stated at that time.

It's not hard to understand if all this seems confusing. This will likely be the last major branding update that AT&T's streaming customers, current or future, see for quite some time.
