Vodafone latest UK carrier to reintroduce roaming charges in Europe after Brexit

Vodafone has announced that it will be reintroducing roaming fees in Europe for UK customers starting January next year. This is the second UK carrier to reintroduce roaming fees in Europe following the country's exit from the European Union. It follows a similar Uturn by EE in June. All the major UK carriers previously stated that they did not plan to charge roaming fees in Europe following the Brexit vote.All Vodafone customers who sign up for or change their contracts after August 11, 2021 will be subject to the fees. The fees will also apply from January 6, 2022. Prices vary depending on which plan you choose, but the majority of customers will pay 2 dollars per day (or $2.77) to use their UK allowance for calls, texts and data in Europe. If access is purchased in an eight- or fifteen-day bundle, 1 dollar per day.Customers who sign up for Vodafone's Unlimited Data Xtra plans with 4 Xtra perks or Limited Data Xtra plans with 4 Xtra perks will not be charged an additional fee to use their UK allowances in Europe. No roaming fees will be charged to UK Vodafone customers who travel to the Republic of Ireland (an EU member state) regardless of their contract. However, after the UK voted for Brexit, it was forced to renegotiate all its trade agreements with the bloc. These agreements did not allow for free mobile roaming. However, UK carriers could reintroduce charges if they so desired.
