TikTok's AI is now available to other companies

TikTok's AI has been made public. According to the Financial Times, ByteDance's parent company quietly created a BytePlus division which sells TikTok technology. This includes the recommendation algorithm. Customers can also purchase computer vision tech, real time effects, and automated translations among other features.BytePlus was launched in June. It is based out of Singapore but has offices in Hong Kong, London and Hong Kong. Although the company plans to register trademarks in America, it is not clear if they have an American presence. At least one customer is registered. BytePlus code is used by Goat, an American fashion app. Chilibeli, an Indonesian online shopping site, and WeGo are also using it.ByteDance didn't comment on BytePlus plans.Even though it may remove some of TikTok’s fame, a move like this would not be unexpected. This could make ByteDance more competitive with Amazon and Microsoft, as well as other companies that sell behind-the scenes tools to businesses. It could also be used as a hedge. TikTok's Chinese counterpart Douyin may be nearing a plateau, and selling their tech might keep the money flowing.
