Qantas will start operating non-stop flights from Australia to London and New York in the year 2025.

The national carrier of Australia said it had purchased a new fleet of A350-1000 jets that could fly to any city in the world.

The first flights from Australia to London will leave late in the 20th century.

It took 58 hours and seven stops for the route to be launched in 1947.

Alan Joyce said in a statement that the A350 and Project Sunrise will make any city just one flight away from Australia.

It is the final fix for the tyranny of distance.

Qantas has been working on the project for about five years, but it has been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It began offering 17-hour flights between London and Perth in Western Australia in the summer of 2018).
