Many of us had been waiting for the day when we would get a SAMSUNG WATCH with GOOGLE'S SOFTWARE. The watch was designed to introduce a new era of Wear OS 3, which was co-developed by the two companies. The core bits of the prior generation of Wear OS software were missing.

This isn't a new revelation, but in the last couple of weeks, it has gotten me thinking about the peculiar situation of the various devices. Consumers have been told multiple times that the Google Assistant is on the way. It has been nearly eight months since the release of the watch. I think this is not a coincidence.

Getting our hopes up

I bought theGalaxy Watch 4 twice and though it wasn't a significant factor in either purchase, it still rears its head whenever I want to use it on my watch. I was so excited when it appeared that the feature would be coming to the Wearable any day now, only to find out that it was a mistake.

Over the last week, there were massive leaks of the Pixel Watch. While it was all happening, it hit me that the lack of a Google Assistant on the watch, the hope of a Google Wearable, and the lack of Wear OS 3 on the watch are all in cahoots.

The Galaxy Watch 4 is an overall great device, but its lack of Google Assistant is puzzling.

What I am about to say is speculative and based on my own crazy thoughts. If the agreement gave the sole rights to Wear OS 3 to the company, what would happen to the company? The voice assistant on the Pixel Watch will be introduced at the I/O conference, as well as Wear OS 3 to other brands.

I posed my theory to Jitesh Ubrani, the research manager for the worldwide device tracker. He told me that the assistant is used as a key differentiating factor in the phones and that it will likely be made a central feature in the watch.

The lack of a Google Assistant is a thorn in the side of someone who is trying to love theGalaxy Watch 4. The only Wear OS watch on the market that has the more advanced internal specifications is the one rocking the latest version of the software.

With the Snapdragon 4100, Google Assistant is far more snappy and actually useful.

It was not an ideal experience to have a Wear OS watch with a Google Assistant on it. It required a lot of patience to use the assistant on older watches. When I don't have it, I miss it because it's more useful than before, but with newer devices, like the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, it's even more useful.

I asked Ubrani if he thought the lack of an assistant had held the watch back, and he said he didn't think so. In the second half of the year, our estimates show that 7 million WearOS watches were shipped, which is higher than the 5.6 million watches it shipped in the second half of the year. The growth was driven by the aggressive marketing of the company rather than the fact that it was running on a new OS. My point is that when it comes to the success of the Wearables, it is based on the hard work of the manufacturer.

It doesn't make sense for a feature so ingrained in the best Android smartwatches to be absent from the flagship watch.

Jerry Hildenbrand, the Editor of Dope Shit, said that the Wear OS is still a flop despite the numbers. What causes failure is questionable. Is it due to a lack of apps? Is it because there are more Apple Watches in the wild? In this case, why and if the watch is a failure is something that can be discussed.

It doesn't make sense for a feature that is so ingrained in both the best Android watches and phones to be absent from the Flagship watch eight months later. Maybe a Pixel Watch is that reason.

The leaks and discussions pointed to the same thing when the watch was nearing its release. I was worried that the Wear OS 3 was going to be too much for the company to compete with, and until recently I felt that way. It may have been a part of the plan to get the attention of the public. The same can be said of the watches, since the OEMs is the face of the OS.

Perhaps it's all been a part of the plan and agreement for Samsung to get the spotlight.

The Wear OS 3 story is that no other watches have a device running the software at this point. A common thread among the devices that have the Assistant is that they all run a processor from the same company. The Pixel Watch will not be affected by rumors.

I asked Ubrani what he thought about the idea of a different strategy by the search engine. Is a slow roll out of Wear OS 3 to other brands beneficial? When it comes to other brands, I think having some sort of exclusive period for a particular brand is a factor, but perhaps having a different chipset has added to the development time.

Time will tell

This has been to say a few things. I'm tired of waiting for the assistant on my watch. I want to know more about the Pixel Watch because of all the leaks and rumors. I want to see Wear OS 3 on other watches. There is nothing I can do about it, and this is just my way of trying to understand it.
