Scientists: It’s As If Something With Huge “Fingernails” Scratched the Surface of Mars

Scientists at the European Space Agency are telling us stories.

The new photos of the surface features on Mars were described as looking like someone had raked their fingernails across the surface of the Red Planet.

The region, called Tantalus Fossae, was created when the volcano they flank rose in altitude.

The rock between the trenches dropped into the void when the two parallel faults opened up.

They released photos of the trenches and a crater on the internet. The region was named after Tantalus, the son of Zeus, who betrayed the gods and was punished in the Underworld.

The Mars Express has been around for over a decade and has captured a lot of information about the Red Planet.

The first person of color and the first woman on the Moon should be seen in NASA's Artemis plans, if it isn't pulled away like Tantal.
