Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy brought in some of the wallcrawler's best enemies for Tobey Maguire to fight. It's more interesting to think about who Raimi was going to bring to the big screen with a hypothetical Spider-Man 4 and beyond. We know that Raimi wanted to bring another villain into the movie business, and that we could have had ourselves a Vulture prior to the arrival of Michael Keaton.
During an interview with Rolling Stone, Raimi said that he wanted Bruce Campbell to play Mysterio in Spider-Man 4. At the start of the film, Peter would take down one of the many villains. Raimi said that he wanted to do a villain like Kraven the Hunter, but missed out. The appeal of that villain came from his whole idea of being a big game hunter, one who could really be a test for Spider-Man's dual identities. I thought that would be unique.
Next year, Kraven will be played by a man named Aaron Taylor-Johnson in a solo movie. He is one of the villains locked in for Spider-Man 2. We could give Raimi a chance at directing something since he said he was open to doing another one of these. It does feel like something he's ace at, particularly in bringing the character to life, either as a human or a big tiger man. If nothing else, it would be interesting to see how his experience with horror allows him to direct a character who is scary for Spider-Man in a different way.
