Top Ukrainian officials have reported that Russia has lost another general in the invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities said that Simonov was killed near the city of Izyum, which is currently occupied by Russian forces.

More than 30 Russian armored vehicles, including tanks, were hit by the Ukrainian military on Saturday, according to the paper.

The command post appears to have been bombarded by rockets, according to footage posted on social media.

Oleksiy Arestovych, the military adviser to the president, said that 100 Russian soldiers were killed in the attack. According to the Mail Online, Arestovych said that army sources had confirmed the death of Simonov.

The claims by the Ukrainian authorities have not been verified.

The death of Maj. Gen. Simonov has not yet been confirmed by Russia.

The Ukrainian government advisor said on his Telegram account that Simonov was a senior commander of electronic warfare.

His death would make him the tenth Russian general to die in the country.

Many of Russia's top generals and commanders have been lost in the invasion of Ukraine.

NATO estimates that Russia has lost up to 15,000 troops, while the Ukrainians claim to have killed 20,000.

Russia has an official death toll of 1,351 in Ukraine.
