When his phone started ringing, he walked into his mom's room. He shielded it from his brother, who is a defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cam stood near him and tried to figure out who was on the phone with his brother, a tight end from Michigan State. The Chicago Bears were making a sixth-round pick in the NFL draft, so Cam thought his brother was going to the Bears.

He asked who was on the phone.

As he walked away,Connor said, "One second."

But before he could ask more questions, his phone rang. It was Mike.

This has been priceless, because this fool just walked away, and he didn't tell me it was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

My brother thought it would be funny to have a prank. There will be a lot of times when you need to get some hazing back.

The Steelers added their fourth pair of brothers to the roster with the selection of Connor and Cam Heyward in the sixth round.

It makes you play better when you have siblings around, because they push you to the limits that your teammates can push you to.

There are seven sets of brothers. The Steelers have 888-405-7720 888-405-7720

The intangible quality of the other is what Mike Tomlin said the Steelers value. We are all trying to measure that with which we can not. That is probably what motivates us to play the brother game.

The guys that we do business with are on their own merit. They just happen to be brothers in some instances.

Pittsburgh coaches insisted that his brother earned his spot on his own merit, even though he has been with the organization for more than a decade. The Swiss Army knife that Connor was a star at Michigan State was a 10 year old. In his senior season, he had 35 catches for 327 yards and two touchdown. He had 65 carries for 200 yards a year before. As a pro,Connor will be used as a tight end, according to his coach.

Roberts said that it was fortunate to have that kind of talent and bloodline that was coming through, but withConnor, he held his own weight and own name. I think it is bigger than the bloodline. I think he is being selected because he can play.

Being the younger brother of an established Steeler has perks. Even though things will be a little different now, Connor has a good feel for the organization and has been in the locker room with Cam many times.

If Kenny is giving the tours, Connor is giving the detours.

I like to think thatConnor has seen everything. I think it will be different for him this time. It is one thing to be a spectator. It makes it even more monumental when you are in the thick of things.

He has a deep connection to the city, even though he wasn't born there. The late Craig "Ironhead" Heyward was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 1988 draft, and his son, Cam, was drafted by the PittsburghSteelers.

This is the first time the pair have played on the same team, and even though Cam will be there to guide him through his transition, there will still be plenty of spirited, brotherly competition.

If he was on a different team, I was going to beat him up.
