The partial solar eclipse of April 30 swept over parts of South America, as well as the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The solar eclipse began at a specific time. There is a coast near the coast of Antarctica in the far southeastern Pacific. There is a solar eclipse when the moon passes between the sun and Earth. A partial eclipse is when only a small part of the sun is obscured by the moon. At 4:41 p.m., the maximum eclipse occurred. When the moon blocked most of the sun's disk for viewers just south of the southern tip of South America, it happened today.

Thanks to online broadcasts from Timeanddate.com, viewers in the U.S. and other areas outside the eclipse path were able to watch the event live.
The second new moon of the month, known as a Black Moon, happened to coincide with the eclipse. When the Earth-facing side of the moon is completely obscured in shadow, a new moon occurs only once a month. April started with a new moon on April 1 and ended with a second today.
