Naomi Judd, one half of the mom-and-daughter duo The Judds, has died. Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. They say that they lost their mother to the disease of mental illness. She was loved by her public as we loved her. We are in a new area. NJ's passing comes as a bit of a shock, as she's been public in recent years about different personal struggles she's grappled with throughout her life, including depression dating back to her childhood, nobody seemed to know the extent of what she was Naomi had made it clear that her issues had left her and her country duo-daughter, Wynonna, estranged for a time, but they had recently reconciled and were due to hit the road again this year for an arena tour across the country. The timing of this tragedy is stunning because Wynonna and Naomi were supposed to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday. The Judds had a successful career for about a decade after they formed in 1983, during which they released six studio albums, over 20 hit singles and won 5 Grammys. There are some notable songs. During the 90's, each woman ventured out solo into their respective careers, and Naomi even appeared on television as a side character. She has appeared in hit series like Frasier and 3rd Rock From the Sun. Naomi has also starred in films like "An Evergreen Christmas" and "A Holiday Romance". At least one of her films had her mom in it. Naomi is survived by her husband and celebrity daughters. She was 76 years old. I am sad.
