The series was created by Greg Daniels of The Office and Parks and Recreation fame and starred Steve Carrell as a military general tasked with creating the next branch of the US armed forces. The comedy was hit and miss over the course of its two seasons. Carrell and the rest of the cast were in a show that wasn't making the best use of their talents.
The cancellation of Space Force is the latest in a string of canceled shows, including Raising Dion and Pretty Smart. The streaming service now plans on cutting back on their many original programming, as well as the canceled animated series, which was in the middle of development. Space Force was considered to be a pricey show to develop, like with the upcoming season of Stranger Things.
Daniels will still be working with the company going forward. He will be an executive producer on Bad Crimes and an adaptation of the Exploding Kittens card game. The second season of Daniels' sci-fi comedy Upload was dropped on Amazon in March. The show has yet to be greenlit for a third season, but Daniels is confident that it will, as he told TheWrap that early work on season three has begun.
The deadline is Deadline.
