The planets Venus and Jupiter will meet in the night sky tonight and tomorrow morning in a stunning optical illusion.

If you don't have access to a dark sky or a telescope, you can watch the spectacle live on the Virtual Telescope Project website.

The live feed will start on April 30. The Virtual Telescope Project is located in Cecceno, near Rome, Italy.

Venus and Jupiter are in the sky this week.

Venus and Jupiter are within one-half degree of each other in the sky, equivalent to the width of the moon. The next time Venus and Jupiter will appear together will be on March 1, 2023.

The two planets are hundreds of millions of miles apart. Venus is the second closest planet to the sun, and it will be about 90.3 million miles from Earth during the conjunction.

The closest visual approach will be on Sunday at 3 p.m. The duo will be outshone by the sun at that time.

Jupiter will shine at magnitude - 2.1, which is about one sixth as bright as Venus.

The best time to see the planets close together will be before sunrise on May 1st as the planets will begin to edge away from each other.
