A passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta, Georgia, to Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested after he physically attacked a flight attendant and yelled gay slurs.

Christopher Alexander Morgan, who was seated in the first class section of the plane, became disruptive before takeoff when he refused to comply with instructions to put his seat upright and to wear a seatbelt, according to the complaint.

According to the complaint, Morgan became unruly after a flight attendant refused to serve him a second alcoholic beverage and instead offered a non-alcoholic drink.

Morgan is said to have thrown a glass of ice at the flight attendant and shouted a gay slur at him.

Morgan was aggressive towards another passenger who tried to de-escalate the situation.

The flight attendant used a telephone near the cockpit to inform the pilot about Morgan. Morgan is accused of hitting a flight attendant in the chest with his phone.

The passenger heard him say the F-slur.

According to the complaint, Morgan told FBI agents that the flight attendant was gay, making him feel uncomfortable.

Morgan said that he may have been intimidating the flight attendants because of his homophobia.

According to the complaint, Morgan admitted to FBI agents that he called the flight attendant but denied hitting him.

Morgan was met by law enforcement officers when he arrived in Arizona, according to a Delta Air Lines statement.

Delta takes all reports of discrimination at our airports and aboard our aircraft very seriously and has zero tolerance for unruly behavior.

Morgan is accused of interfering with a flight crew member. There is a preliminary hearing on May 3.
