The findings from a new study show that international travel is on track for a full recovery in 2022, and that it will surpass pre-pandemic levels.
International Medical Group just released the results of its Travel Outlook Survey, in which it evaluated the upcoming travel plans and overall sentiment of customers who had previously traveled internationally.

96 percent of participants plan to travel overseas in 2022, representing an 11 percent increase over pre-pandemic levels, according to the results.
It is clear that people are more comfortable traveling abroad and are ready to take the international trips they have had to delay over the last couple of years.
Travelers are more comfortable going abroad this year.
Sixty-nine percent of respondents said they are more comfortable traveling abroad this year than they were last year, compared to 32 percent who said the same thing.
In comparison to last year's respondents who planned to travel overseas before October 2021, 71 percent of survey-takers reported plans to travel internationally before October 2022.
Travelers are willing to take multiple trips in 2022.
38 percent of survey participants said they plan to travel internationally three or more times before the year 2022.
52 percent of those staying in the US plan on traveling domestically three or more times before the year is out, an 18 percent increase as compared to 2021.
Travelers are keener to protect themselves and their trip investments by purchasing travel protection plans and/or travel medical insurance, as they generally feel more confident about traveling abroad this year.
53 percent of respondents said they are more likely to buy a trip protection plan or travel medical insurance policy because of the uncertainty caused by COVID-19. 43 said that they are equally likely to purchase a plan as they were before.
The survey participants think the most important are:
1. There are benefits to medical insurance.
2. There are benefits to trip cancellation/interruption.
3. Cancel or interrupt for any reason.
Everyone's mind is focused on travel and health safety, and the fact that they can become ill or injured while they are traveling, or before they plan to travel, resulting in a need to cancel their trip.
After being stuck at home for the last few years, we are seeing people take more extravagant or once-in-a-lifetime trips as they get back to traveling internationally.
The top five countries that respondents plan on visiting next are:
1. Mexico.
2. Canada.
3. France.
4. Italy.
5. Portugal is located in Portugal.
