The teenager pleaded not guilty to killing his mother.

David Allan Ohlson is being held without bond in the Escambia County Jail. His attorney, Sharon Wilson, filed motions with the court this week entering Ohlson's not guilty plea and demanding a jury trial.

Ohlson admitted to shooting and killing his mother around 1 a.m. according to the arrest report. They were at their Bellview home on April 8. He did not expect his mother to be one of the people he planned to shoot.

David Ohlson called the sheriff's office to report that his son had accidentally shot his wife. She died in surgery after being taken to the hospital.

Father witnessed his son shoot and kill a woman.

The victim's name is blacked out in the arrest report at her husband's request. Florida law allows victim's families to decide if the person's name should be made public, but it doesn't allow them to decide if it should be done on social media.

Your friends came to see you today. They stayed in your room and hung out. It felt good to know that you're not here and your mom is not with you, and that you're not the only one.

According to the arrest report, Ohlson told the sheriff's office that he and his wife had separated and he was living with relatives. He said his wife called him because their son was acting out and she mentioned a gun. Ohlson said his wife called him back to say things had calmed down after he drove to their home.

Ohlson saw his wife standing in the living room and their son sitting on the floor when he got there. Ohlson said his son pointed the shotgun at him and at his mother. Ohlson said he fired the shotgun at the teen as he moved toward her.

The responding sheriff's deputy wrote that the father picked up the shotgun and secured it inside of his truck.

His life fell apart about three weeks ago when his parents separated, and he believed his mother had lost her temper for him. He thought she was cold toward him when they argued after she got home. Ohlson said he retrieved the shotgun from a safe in the house and put it in his car with the intention of killing his mother's friend.

Ohlson said he couldn't go through with it and he didn't even leave the driveway, so he brought the gun back to the house and pointed it at his mother and himself.

David Allan Ohlson made a statement that he had no right to shoot his mother, according to the report.

On the day after her death, her husband posted a number of pictures of his family and himself on his social media accounts, including a picture of himself with her.

Adriana is my forever and ever. I don't know how to move forward, but our boy needs us. Send some help down from above so we can stand strong for our boy. The baby is a boy needs us. I know how to live hurt since I was a kid. Our son needs us.

On Facebook, Ohlson announced that his wife's funeral was held in person and online. The church has a service on its website. She was originally from Brazil and had a large extended family there, but she had built a life in the United States. The Ohlson's 20-year wedding anniversary was in December.

Much of the service was done in English and Portuguese. Her loved ones say she was a faithful follower of Christ who attended both First Pentecostal Church and a local church with a Brazilian congregation. The attendee read her obituary.

The woman introduced as Sister Duce said that Adriana was a devoted and loving mother to David. She is a shining example of what a mother and faithful servant should be. She was friendly and outgoing. She will be missed by many people who knew her.

Soraya Barbosa traveled from Brazil to represent her sister's family at the service, speaking on behalf of their mother, stepfather, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbosa said that Adriana was loved by everyone. I gave a bible to Drica when she came to the United States. She told me she had given her life to Jesus after I prayed she would find salvation.

Sarah Hayles cried as she remembered how special her sister-in-law was to her friends and family.

Sara Hayles said that she had a friendly and caring personality. She was an amazing mom who cared for her son very much. She was a fun aunt who taught my kids all about Carnival and Brazil.

At the service, Ohlson's estranged husband spoke. He appeared to struggle as he stepped up to the podium and put his head in his arms, but he spoke for more than 20 minutes. He said that his late wife was attracted to him because he had a Jesus pendant on his necklace and she thought he was going to church.

Ohlson said that his wife saw potential in him that no one else saw in him and despite their warnings that he might not be worth her time, they hit it off and married a few months later. He said they were blessed with the birth of their son, David, in 2003 and how tenuous her pregnancy was when she was sick for five months.

I was told by the doctors to be prepared to lose one or the other, and I thought that was bad enough.

For the next 18 years, Ohlson said, they both focused on David and their family and that it was all work, really little play, and all work because we both understood to get anywhere in life. He describes himself as a musician. A hard worker. Love life. A family man. Panhandle boy ya hoid!

There are many pictures of Ohlson and his son on social media. A picture of an 11-year-old David Ohlson holding a semi-automatic weapon at a gun store is on a post.

According to the latest court filing from the State Attorney's Office, David Ohlson did not murder his mother with a premeditated design. His next court date is not yet set. Friends and family of Adriana Ohlson are praying for peace and healing.

First Pentecostal Church Senior Pastor Brian Kinsey said that they are all dealing with the tragedy in the best way they can.
