  • An ethics complaint has been filed against the congressman by the president of a political action committee.

  • He is accused of not properly filing House financial disclosures regarding gifts and loans to Mr. Stephen L. Smith.

  • A video featuring Cawthorn and Smith, the congressman's scheduler, was published online Thursday.

The president of the political action committee filed an ethics complaint against the congressman. The complaint states that Cawthorn did not properly file House financial disclosures regarding gifts and loans to Mr. Stephen L. Smith, the congressman's scheduler.

In his complaint, David Wheeler alleges that Cawthorn and Smith are living together, and that they are both registered in North Carolina.

Cawthorn's first term in office is the sole objective of the American Muckrakers PAC.

On the day after the complaint was filed, a video of Cawthorn joking with a man in a car was published by the Daily Mail. The other man is Cawthorn's scheduler, who Wheeler mentions in his ethics complaint, according to the Daily Mail. The video was included in the complaint.

Cawthorn says in the video that he would like to see a naked body beneath his hands.

The man is doing the filming. While turning the camera on himself, I would like to see that as well. Cawthorn burst out laughing and the other man filmed himself putting his hand on the lawmaker's groin.

Wheeler posted several pictures of what he claimed were Smith and Cawthorn's payments to one another. The images shared showed messages between the two before Smith joined Cawthorn's campaign for Congress.

Some of the payments sent from Cawthorn to Smith included labels like "getting naked for me in Sweden" and "The quickie at the airport."

Smith paid Cawthorn for loving him daily and nightly.

Wheeler asked the committee to investigate the relationship between Cawthorn and his employee.

A representative for Cawthorn called the complaint ridiculous.

The Cawthorn representative said that Stephen is his cousin.

Smith may be Cawthorn's distant relative. Smith was Cawthorn's third cousin, once removed, and he noted that Smith was living with him at the time.

Insider was directed by the representative to the two Cawthorn posts. Many of my colleagues would be nowhere near politics if they had grown up with a cell phone.

Cawthorn's spokesman highlighted a secondtweet from the company that appeared to be a screenshot from the Epoch Times, which the publication said was an establishment-driven campaign.

Cawthorn implied that the leaked information was a campaign against him by the Republicans.

Insider was unable to verify the contents of the email.

Wheeler said he was not aware of the full amount that Cawthorn and Smith may have exchanged. An anonymous source gave him the information he used to get the Venmo payments.

Smith did not reply immediately.

Cawthorn has been involved in a lot of controversy.

The congressman may have violated the STOCK Act by failing to declare his purchases of cryptocurrencies.

Lawmakers from his home state of North Carolina and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy chastised Cawthorn after he claimed he had witnessed sexual perversion and drug use among Washington Republicans.

Cawthorn dismissed the congressman's lingerie photos as goofy vacation photos.

Cawthorn was cited for bringing a loaded gun into the airport. He had been found with a gun in his luggage before.
