Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of trying to break a period of relative peace in the country during a visit by the Secretary General of the United Nations.

After a period of relative calm in the Ukrainian capital, missiles struck around an hour after Zelensky and Guterres held a joint news conference.
Zelensky said the attack was to humiliate the UN.
He said that it said a lot about Russia's true attitude to global institutions.
Zelensky said the attack merited a strong response.
The UN has come under fire for its handling of the crisis in Ukraine and has faced criticism for not doing more to stop the atrocities there. Zelensky said the UN Security Council does little to offer the security it supposedly guarantees. The United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China and France can veto any bill, which is why the Council has yet to pass a single resolution condemning the war. Russia has exercised the power more than any other member because of the threat of a veto. The General Assembly voted to require veto wielders to explain their decision this week, though veto wielders have not been required to do so before.
There are war crimes charges. 10 Russian soldiers were charged with taking civilians hostage and mistreating them. Iryna Venediktova said that Ukrainian investigators are looking into more than 8,000 cases. A group of war crimes experts from the U.K. went to Ukraine on Friday.
