The victory came at a cost as the St. Louis Cards lost to the New York Mets.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado and relief pitcher Genesis Cabrera were suspended for their roles in a benches-clearing brawl that overshadowed the game, according to Jesse Rogers.

The other punishments were noted by the New York Post.

MLB gave a 2-game suspension to Nolan Arenado and a 1-game suspension to Genesis Cabrera for their involvement in the Cardinals-Mets hostilities. Yoan Lopez and Taijuan Walker of the Mets received fines, as did Jack Flaherty of the Cardinals.

The Associated Press noted that the Mets were hit by three of theCardinals during Tuesday's game. The Yankees had 19 hit-by-pitches in Wednesday's contest, which marked a major league-leading 19 hit-by-pitches for New York batters.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado yelled at the pitcher after he threw a pitch near his head in the bottom of the eighth.

Oliver Marmol, the manager of the Cards, said that he takes exception to people coming up top and ruining someone's career and life.

Stubby Clapp, the first base coach of the Cards, and Arenado were thrown out of the game.

Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson both had two-run triples in the fourth-inning rally that gave theCardinals a five-run lead.

St. Louis snapped a three-game losing streak by getting three hits from Arenado.

The two teams play four straight against each other from May 16-19.
