Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball said Thursday that he is at a standstill in his recovery from a torn meniscus in his left knee. Next week, he will meet with a knee specialist to figure out the next step in his recovery.
The team released a recovery timetable of six to eight weeks after Ball had surgery on his knee. The team tried to ramp up his basketball activity in the middle of March, but his knee didn't respond well and he was shut down in April.
Ball said at his exit interview that he was trying to get back as fast as possible after the team let it calm down. I still have pain. It's gotta be figured out this summer for sure.
Ball was unsure if he would need another surgery during the off-season.
He said he wouldn't want to have another one. If that is what it takes, then I have no choice at this point.
While he was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Ball had a procedure to repair a torn knee in July of last year. He had a bone bruise in his knee but was unsure if the pain was related to the torn meniscus.
This is the second time Ball tore it. A lot more leg work. I will work with the doctors and strength coaches to get healthy.
In his first season with Chicago, Ball played a career low 35 games. He averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 Rebounds and 5.1 Assists while shooting 42.3% from 3.
Ball said the way his season ended was very frustrating. A lot of the goals we had were due to health issues. You cannot change the past. Everything happens for a reason. It is now about moving forward and getting ready for next year.
