The company announced today that the accessory for the Apple Watch will be updated with video calling.

WristCAM is an Apple Watch band that adds an 8-megapixel camera and a two-megapixel selfie camera to your wrist, with the camera able to hold up to 2000 photos or an hour of video. The device allows hands-free recording when connected to the Apple Watch.

The new video calling feature will allow WristCAM owners to make calls from their wrists. There is no native video calling on the Apple Watch as it lacks a camera.

WristCAM offers watch-to-watch calling with other WristCAM users or watch-to-iPhone calling. Both parties must have the WristCAM app to use this feature.

Video calling is available, but users must request early access to use it. The new WristcamOS SDK will allow App Store developers to use the camera capabilities of the device.

Wrist cam can come in handy if you need a hands-free camera option, and we went hands-on with it last year. Wristcam can be purchased for $299.
