Section 230 is a law that protects tech companies from liability over what users post on their platforms.

The 21st Century FREE Speech Act is the House companion to the Senate version of the bill. Section 230 would be repealed and replaced with a requirement that online communications platforms be classified as common carriers.

The announcement comes days after Musk won a bid to take the company private and promised to annoy lefties and right-wingers alike in a new effort to make the platform politically neutral. During a Thursday press conference, she said she spent months analyzing several bills. She rushed to find a bill to support after Musk's bid was accepted.

“Elon Musk buying Twitter and talking about defending free speech has ramped up the Democrats’ efforts to want to clamp down on speech”

It made me realize that the Democrats want to restrict free speech.

Prepare for blue check mark full scale meltdown after Musk seals the deal and I should get my personal account restored.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas laid out the act of classifying social media platforms as common carriers last April. Thomas posed the idea of using the net neutrality rules for broadband providers when the court declined to take up the case against Trump.

Thomas wrote in the opinion that there is a fair argument that some digital platforms are similar to common carriers.

The opinion had no legal force, but it provided a new option for Republicans who were angry over Big Tech censorship.

The bill hasn't gotten much support from the other side of the state. If Republicans take back the House after this year's elections, she expects the bill to move forward.
