Jokic said he will sign the largest contract extension in NBA history with the Denver Nuggets after a historic season that could lead to a second Most Valuable Player trophy.

Jokic had 30 points, 19 rebound, and 8 assists in Game 5 of the first-round series, but the Nuggets were eliminated by the Warriors.

According to Bobby Marks, Jokic is eligible to receive a supermax contract extension that will be worth $254 million over five years.

Jokic said that he would like to extend his contract, but that it was not something that he was making a decision on. I will accept the offer if it is on the table because I really like the people who work here. I have a good relationship with everyone from the owner to the equipment manager.

The reigningMVP delivered a historic individual season that could lead to a second award. Jokic became the first player to have 2,000 points, 1,000 rebound and 500 assists in a season. He became the first to average 25 points, 13 rebound and 7 assists in a season, and the first to lead his team in points, assists, steals, blocks and field goal percentage.

Jokic downplayed his individual success and the possibility of a second straight Most Valuable Player trophy.

Jokic said that he never dreamed of winning a second award. My name is always going to be there.

If I don't get it, I'm not going to die. It would be nice, but if it happens.

The Nuggets were sent into the offseason with a rather one-sided loss for the second year in a row. They were swept by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the playoffs last year.

Michael Porter Jr. missed most of the season after undergoing a third back surgery, and the Nuggets did not have Jamal Murray for either of those two playoffs.

The addition of a healthy Murray and Porter to the lineup with Jokic is scary, according to Denver coach Michael Malone. We felt like we had a chance to win a championship. It was not in the cards for us. Two max players have helped us advance out of the first round the last three years.

When Murray is expected to play again for the first time since he suffered a knee injury in April of 2021, the expectations will be tempers.

The future is definitely bright, but we have to understand that it won't be the same as last year. I think it will be a build up, him getting comfortable and confident out there.

During the first two games here, I couldn't sleep, but I thought about having him. At 3 in the morning, I was looking at the statistics of Jamal, who was in the bubble for the 2020 playoffs. Wow. Sometimes you forget how good he was, even though I knew he was good. When the stakes are at their highest, he steps up. He is never afraid of the moment. In 10 playoff games last year, Michael Porter had 17 points, six boards, and a high clip from the 3-point line. It makes up for so many things. They can do that.

Jokic said there is still a lot of unknown for the Nuggets, even after they are healthy again.

Jokic said that they didn't know what to do because they were not healthy. Yes. Can we do something? Probably. You can see through the league that the teams are not making any success.

I think we have talent. We have players. We have things. We have tools. Are we going to work together? That is the only thing. That is the question. You can't know that until you start playing.
