The Millennium Hotels and Resorts group of hotels in Singapore and Hong Kong are taking their first steps into the metaverse after purchasing virtual properties in Decentraland and the Sandbox.

Millennium Hotels and Resorts said on Wednesday that it is launching a hotel in Decentraland, a virtual world where players can build, buy and sell in-game assets as they interact with others.

Millennium Hotels said in a statement that the M Social Decentraland is a place for all to gather and discover the virtual reality universe. The virtual hotel will open in May. Visitors will have the chance to win real world hotel surprises when they interact with anavatar which guides them through the building.

The executive chairman of City Developments said that they hope to redefine the model of hospitality.

Millennium Hotels will seek partnerships in the metaverse platform. The brand said that it will integrate its virtual hotel with real world occasions, such as New Year's and Valentine's Day.
