The bold XPS 13 Plus is now available for purchase. It starts at $1,299, and while Dell didn't detail the exact specifications for this configuration, it will likely get the lowest specifications listed in a spec sheet shared by the company. There is a 13.4-inch 1920 x 1200 16:10 aspect ratio display with 500 nits of peak brightness.

Each model has a 60W AC adapter, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a Windows Hello 720p webcam, as well as a fingerprint reader embedded in the power button.

there will also be a Developer Edition that will ship with Ubuntu 20.04

The new version of the XPS 13 has a more futuristic looking design than the standard model. The Plus has Touch Bar-like row of backlit function keys, as well as the keyboard, which sits flush with the case. The new trackpad is invisible to the eye but takes up a similar amount of real estate in the middle of the wrist rest. Apple's recent laptops have the same click with haptic feedback as the trackpad hardware does.

It certainly looks nice, but we’ll have to see in the full review whether the new keyboard and trackpad are actually enjoyable to use.

We will be testing the XPS 13 Plus soon. Monica Chin wrote in her hands-on that she was cautiously optimistic that the aesthetic changes wouldn't stop it from being a good machine. Stay aware of the full review to find out.
