Kevin Durant

You have to respect Kevin Durant for staying on the brand at all times. The Brooklyn Nets were eliminated from the NBA playoffs in the first round by the Boston Celtics, completing one of the most disappointing seasons of all time. Their experiment didn't work out. They acquired James Harden last season. The Nets lost three first-round picks, the defense got worse, and Jarrett Allen became an All-Star. The Nets have won one playoff series since they acquired Irving and Durant.

The Nets season may have ended last night with them trying to wring some desperate minutes and charges out of Scott Foster, but no force was going to extend that series another game.

The morning after, it's possible that Durant is packing for vacation, but not without addressing something that Charles Barkley said on Sunday night. He needed to get something off his chest. He felt that Trae Young was not being criticized enough for his performance against the Miami Heat. Being one of the greatest to ever host a television program, Ernie Johnson threw at Barkely what about Kevin Durant's struggles against the Celtics. Charles Barkely won't sidestep a topic, even though he has had his issues in the past, because he is Charles Barkely. He pointed out that the team has never won a championship when Kevin Durant has been the best player.

After holding onto that for a couple of days, KD let his feelings be known by posting four pictures of him as a player on his IG. One of the guys is on the court with a murderer's row of teammates, including Julius Erving, Andrew Toney, and Maurice Cheeks. There is a picture of him in all-star jerseys with Cheeks and Erving, as well as two photos of him with Hakeem Olajuwon, one with Drexler and one with Scottie Pippen.

Kevin Johnson and Dan Majerle were on the most loaded team that Charles Barkley played on with the Phoenix Suns. He didn't stop there. Those who dare question him for going after him are welcome to do so. World Wide Wob made a point that the NBA production crew might make the entire show out of him tonight. The picture of Irving leading the Nets to the end of the flat earth while wearing a tin foil hat was truly a chef's kiss. An army of producers against the god was responded to by Durant. It's just another Tuesday.

I respect him for going back and forth with a few more accounts. With the money that he has, two championship rings, and an NBA Most Valuable Player, there's no reason to respond to anything and create dozens of stories like this one you're currently reading. It's better to call someone from the locker room to pack your bags, book a hotel, a flight, pick you up and take you to JFK Airport immediately for a two-week vacation. I might send a message to someone I care about, but my phone is not on. Most of us aren't one of the greatest 15 players in NBA history because of that. After the worst performance of his career in a first-round loss, KD stuck his face right in the buzzsaw.

The man is steadfast. He likes to play ball and defend himself against people who dare besmirch his name. He said in an interview that he does not engage in the same way he did in the past on his burner accounts. He thinks it's a part of life and it's best to simply adapt.

Even if the criticism is small, he will respond. I find that character at least he's consistent, and it's odd that he doesn't break it.
