Turkish Airlines will be opening a lounge in the US.
Turkish Airlines will be opening a lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport. There is a lounge in Terminal 1 with Turkish Airlines branding and a sign that says Turkish Airlines Lounge will be welcoming passengers very soon.
The Turkish Airlines Lounge is taking the space of the former Alitalia Lounge JFK, which must have been one of the worst lounges at JFK. Alitalia is no longer in its previous form, but it has been replaced by another airline. The economics of having a lounge at JFK simply don't make sense.
The Alitalia Lounge has been closed for a long time, and the Air France Lounge JFK has been sending premium passengers to it.
There are a number of reasons we should be looking forward to the Turkish Airlines Lounge JFK.
Unless Turkish Airlines finds a way to expand it, this likely won't be a very large lounge. Turkish Airlines has a few lounges in the United States, including in Miami and Washington, which are above average for Priority Pass lounges.
The former Alitalia Lounge at New York JFK Terminal 1 will soon be taken over by Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines lounges outside of Turkey tend to belong to Priority Pass, so this is a positive development.
