This is a step that is part of a space opera about a giant spaceship crash-landing on Earth, the transforming robot-jets that protect it, and the giant aliens who want it back. The most recent candidate for the position was It's Andy Muschetti, who was once in talks for the position, but was later hired by James Wan. However, there is! Last year, the two studios who owned half of the film came to an agreement after decades of lawsuits that prevented a live-action adaptation from getting off the ground. With those cleared up, it is more likely than ever that the greatest love story of the 20th century will finally get off the ground. Like other live-action adaptations of '80s franchises that don't have the nostalgia levels of Transformers, Robotech isn't nearly as sure of a box office hit. It seems like a great person to bring it to the big screen if it does end up getting made.
