Johnny Depp testified in his $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife that he didn't harm her because she abused him and wrote about it in a Washington Post article.

Heard obtained a temporary restraining order against him after she filed for divorce from him, which he denied. In a joint statement, they said that their relationship was passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Heard sued Depp for $100 million. A judge ruled against him in 2020 after finding there was overwhelming evidence that he was a wife-beater. The trial is expected to last six weeks. Heard is also expected to testify.
