Andrew Woolfolk was one of the OG members and was the long time saxophonist for Earth, Wind and Fire. Philip Bailey, the lead singer of the band, said that the veteran musician, who joined the band in 1972, passed away Sunday after battling a long illness. I met him in high school and we became friends. His name was Andrew Paul Woolfolk. We lost him today. Woolfolk had transitioned from the land of the living to the land of the forever, reflecting on his great talent and memories. Phil says it's funny. Competitive. Quick thinking. Always styling. Booski will see you on the other side. Woolfolk was with Earth, Wind and Fire through their most formative and influential years in music, having contributed to some of their biggest hits. He took a break from the band in the late 80's and early 90's and went on to work with other artists like Phil Collins and Stanley Turrentine. He was a part of the group that received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The sax player in Earth, Wind and Fire was one of only a couple sax players in the group, and he certainly made his mark. Woolfolk was a man. I am sad.
