The best business Chromebooks isn't always the best for everyone, some may need more powerful specs for Linux applications or longer- lasting machines that will make the most of their IT budget, but luckily there are some great choices out there for when
Whether you need a big screen for multi-tasking or a durable little laptop to take from meeting to meeting, there is a model here for everyone. Business Chromebooks need power, stability, and longevity, and the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 is a sturdy, portable package. It is one of the best Chromebooks on the market today due to the best blend of power and price in the premium segment, and it got a spec boost this year after last year's model won the hearts and minds of many Chromebook users.
The first Acer Chromebook Spin 713 was the clear winner among Project Athena Chromebooks, offering better power, performance, and port selection than the other two. The Spin 713 is a 2-in-1 form factor that can fit into any desk situation, and the 13.5-inch screen has a 3:2 aspect ratio for more vertical space when split-screening windows and more room when sketching or viewing schematics. The 2K resolution makes videos look great, and the max brightness of 450 nits means you can use this Chromebook outside, as long as you are not in the midday sun.
The ability to flip the Spin 713 into stand mode while using it at a standing desk is a wonderful blessing, allowing you to keep the screen closer to you, while being able to use the touchscreen easily. The backlit keyboard is easy to use for hours on end, but you may have to deal with bigger palm rests than most 13-inch Chromebooks.
There are some models that will feature a fingerprint sensor in 2021, but they haven't arrived yet. Considering you can only use them to log back into the Chromebook, and Smart Lock does the same thing, I am okay with the omission. I wish they would have done one on each side of the 2020 model, since there are two ports on the left side. Most premium Chromebooks have a headphone/mic jack, but the other two are absent.
As someone who works full-time on a Chromebooks, the Lenovo Flex 5i has been the most compelling one I have used in quite a while. The 2-in-1 form factor of the product is great for the office because you can use it as a normal laptop while you are sitting in a conference room, or you can use it as a signing device.
The good thing about video conferences is that they can be done in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the quality of theWebcam is good enough to get the job done. The Flex 5 has 11th-gen Intel chips that provide even more power, but you will still only be able to get 4 or 8 gigabytes of RAM. You will have to make sure you get the right version, as the company offers up to 64GB with eMMC storage or up to 512GB with a traditional SSD.
It is great to have USI stylus compatibility, but not included in the box is a stylus. It is frustrating for those who want to use this to sign documents, but you can either pick up one of the best USI stylus options or use your finger on the touchscreen display.
The Flex 5i does a good job when it comes to performance and portableness. The upgrade to Intel's 11th-gen chipsets means that the best Chromebooks take a hit in battery life. If you want one of the best Chromebooks, you'll have to make some minor compromises, but it's for this reason thatLenovo didn't want to upgrade its display to something a bit brighter.
HP has a number of enterprise-geared Chromebooks on the market today, but its best entry is the HP Chromebook x360 14c, which is the cheapest and best of the bunch. The x360 14c's 2-in-1 form factor makes it more versatile, and it has 8GB of RAM to go along with the Intel Core i3 processor.
The HP 14c has the same design as the Flex 5i, with upward-facing speakers on each side of the keyboard, meaning that it is easier to listen to live streams and press events. It is a nice big screen that is perfect for split-screening research and reporting, and the battery is large enough to keep it on for up to 10 hours.
There are physical kill switches for the cameras on the HP 14c, which makes re- opening your computer after your lunch break quick and painless. There are not as many ports as the Spin 713, but it is nice to have at least one port, and USI stylus support is welcome to see here.
HP updated the 14c after less than a year to a model with 11th Gen Intel Core processors instead of 10th Gen. This is the reason why you are seeing a wide price range for a single line of Chromebooks, some of which are technically a new model that uses the same name.
The ThinkPad brand is almost as old as I am, and it has an enduring legacy of practicality. This is the first of its kind, with both consumer and enterprise versions available, with powerful configurations available for both. We found the Lenovo ThinkPad C13 Yoga Chromebook to be powerful without making you shell out as much as Intel Core chips do.
The TrackPoint is here with three buttons, but the best feature on the C13 is the keyboard. The ThinkPad is aimed at adults and has nice large uppercase letters instead of the lowercase ones that most Chromebooks have. The C13 is the best keyboard to use at night.
Not all configurations have the fingerprint sensor or the built-in USI stylus, but it is nice to see a built-in USI stylus on an enterprise-grade Chromebook rather than being forced to hunt down a third-party USI stylus. The C13 is one of the better Chromebooks to use outside because it has a screen that is either a 4K screen with 400 nits brightness or a1080p screen with 300 nits brightness.
You will end up paying more for all these features. I am hopeful that we will see the ThinkPad C13 frequently because the list prices here will far exceed the budget of most Chromebook users.
If you are a person who is writing all day long, you will appreciate a keyboard that is quiet and meticulously crafted. Our own Jerry Hildenbrand has a review of his own.
The keys are stiff enough to feel responsive under your fingers, and provide just enough travel. The sweet spot where the key actsuates makes typing enjoyable. You almost get the same satisfaction as you would from a loud clackity mechanical keyboard and this alone makes it better than any other Chromebook on the market to me.
It is accurate, key travel is excellent, and the finish feels amazing to type on for hours on end. This might seem like a lot of gushing for a keyboard, but if you do a lot of typing for your job, this is an essential component that you should not overlook. If you tend to work away from a desk, this is a great device to use in your lap while waiting in airport lounges or waiting rooms.
Besides the wonderful keyboard, the Pixelbook Go has some cutting-edge spec options, including a 4K screen if you're willing to shell out for it. If you need the best of the best, it will absolutely deliver, even if you pay more for the Pixelbook Go.
There is a lot to say about how useful and versatile compact Chromebooks can be. Smaller displays are not the most comfortable options if you are working with multiple windows or large spreadsheets. The world's first 16-inch Chromebook was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show.
In addition to the massive 16-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, the Flip CX5601 makes use of Intel's 12th Gen chipsets. The Core i5 or Core i7 versions have up to 16GB of RAM. The battery life on this list does not take a hit compared to the other options, with ASUS claiming that the CX5601 will last for up to 10 hours on a single charge.
The decision to use Intel's latest chipsets as opposed to the ones from Advanced Micro Devices also brings onboard graphics, along with the support for Thunderbolt 4. There are plenty of ports to connect your peripherals, including a microSD card reader.
If you want to get the new CX5601, you should hold off on buying the old version of the Flip5 from retailers like Amazon. The older version is smaller than the other one and is powered by the 11th generation Intel Core processor. Although it is still a powerful laptop, the new version will be bigger and better and will be worth waiting for.
Any of the Chromebooks mentioned here would make a great addition to your workspace. If we had to pick one, we would recommend the new version of the Chromebook Spin 713, which has a Thunderbolt 4 and 11th Gen Intel Core processors.
It has a 2K resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio and is able to flip the screen back and forth for a tablet form factor, which is a great convenience. The 10-hour battery life and backlit keyboard make for a great experience when working late into the night. There is nothing to complain about on the spec side, with a 10th or 11th Gen Intel i5 processor, 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage.
If you need a little more affordable but still plenty capable, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5i has an 11th Gen Intel Core i3 processor, a backlit keyboard, a compact profile, and a very, very reasonable price. The hardcore business market is locked down with the retro refreshed ThinkPad C13 Yoga Chromebook, which has options for a 4K screen, up to a Ryzen 7 APU, and a built-in USI stylus for easily signing documents.
Business users should consider another category of Chromebooks. The Chromebooks that come with the chrome enterprise upgrade are called enterprise ones. The best Business Chromebooks, the Acer Chromebook Spin 713, as well as the Lenovo ThinkPad C13 Yoga and HP Chromebook x360 14c, are available as standard consumer models or as enterprise models with extra features and the chrome enterprise upgrade built into the price.
Unless your business is a Chrome enterprise customer, chances are you are not buying your own Chromebook, the company is buying in bulk and issuing them out to employees as needed.
For those of us working in Bring Your Own device environments, the enterprise upgrade doesn't do much, because it's supposed to help the IT department of a larger business manage and deploy Chromebooks more easily. G Suite accounts and services are supported by all Chromebooks. I have never found a consumer-grade Chromebook to be lacking in my work for anything other than professional-grade video editing.
