Have you been able to enjoy your break from the realDonaldtrump? Think about it for a second. Let your mind wander to January 8, 2021.
It was like a warm breeze in the dead of winter when you welcomed his sudden absence. Maybe you bristled at the idea in the name of free speech, but you forgot about it recently.
Regardless of your position, I have commentary with which to replace it. When Musk takes over, Trump will return to the hellsite. It's only a matter of time.
Didn't Trump just say he wouldn't rejoin?
The coronaviruses was under control in early 2020 and we all know how that turned out.
So watch this space! Trump will spread his cries through his megaphone just not right away. It is more expedient for Trump to promote his social network, which I promise will never be used by anyone. According to Vanity Fair, TRUTH had just north of 500,000 daily active users as of early April, compared to the 217 million or so daily active users on the social networking site. The former president can juice an app's ranking for a short time, but you should check back in a year.
Do you think Trump will choose loyalty to TRUTH Social, over the outsized media reach, when his campaign kicks into high gear? No. Trump isn't loyal to anything. He will come back given the chance. Next question.
How can we know when the ban will be lifted by Musk? Has he said anything?
Please, allow me a moment to backtrack, Musk has said enough.
Some of the president's supporters protested the ban on free speech, arguing that the safeguard against government overreach should also cover drivel on the website. Conservatives know that Musk's views on free speech and moderation jive with theirs. I'd rather build a town square that people want to visit, rather than one that celebrates these people, but that wouldn't be very social, would it?
Musk seems to want to feel it out and hopes his critics stick around to post. If that's what he's focused on, why wouldn't Rosie O'Donnell return to the fold?
I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2022
At least Jack trusts him.
It seems like he does. After the board accepted Musk's offer, Jack Dorsey spoke up in support of the website. After a strong caveat that he does not believe anyone should own or run Twitter, he said that Elon is the singular solution he trusts.
The decision to ban Trump in the first place came down to just two posts, and was based on their timing and context following the January 6 riot. That is shaky ground to begin with. Musk's management and posting ideology is not compatible with the concepts of baby and nuance. The serial CEO is too busy union busting, hates on critics, and doing things for the lolz to concern himself with ideals like community health or treating people with dignity.
