Legislation was signed by the governor to establish a law enforcement unit to investigate voter fraud and election crimes.

The move comes as part of a nationwide GOP effort to police federal and state elections in the wake of former President Donald Trump's false and debunked claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.

In the state of Florida, you should have more confidence in your vote than in any other place in the country.

Local election supervisors and law enforcement officers may not have the expertise to thoroughly investigate election fraud according to the Florida governor. Only 75 voter fraud complaints were referred to authorities by the Florida Department of State. More than 14 million people are registered to vote in the state.

Some of them may not care about the election stuff. We want to make sure that the laws on the books are followed.

The bill signed into law on Monday made it a felony to send more than two mail-in ballots for other voters, rather than a misdemeanor. The fine for violating voter registration laws was raised from $1,000 to $50,000.

The election law was struck down as nothing more than a ploy to appeal to Trump voters who believe the 2020 election was stolen. There is a chance that DeSantis could be a GOP candidate for the presidential race.

The bill is unnecessary and a waste of taxpayer funds.

The move came after the congressman pushed a map that would reduce the number of predominantly Black districts.

The New York Times reported that on March 28, the governor vetoed a version of the congressional map that would have added two Republican seats and subtracted one from the Democrats. The Florida Senate passed a congressional map last week that would create 20 likely Republican seats and leave eight for Democrats, The Times reported.

The new congressional map was claimed to be race neutral.

We are not going to have a gerrymander that divvies up people based on the color of their skin. We have not governed that way in the state of Florida.
