The Green Bay Packers are said to be interested in acquiring veteran tight endDarren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Packers have no chance of acquiring Waller according to the Raiders quarterback.
Derek Carr @derekcarrqbLol no chance. https://t.co/vINVlgdSMj
Carr said the Raiders and Packers had discussed a deal. The Athletic's Jeff Howe initially indicated Green Bay wanted an undisclosed player from Las Vegas in addition to a first-round pick for Davante Adams.
There has been a lot of discussion about his contract situation. The 29-year-old has two more years on his deal with no guaranteed money and has yet to restructure or sign an extension.
It is not clear how much the Raiders would be willing to pay him. The franchise recently signed Carr to a three-year, $121.5 million extension and Adams to a five-year, $141.25 million deal.
Carr responded to the rumors as he has been one of his top targets over the last three years.
In an injury-shortened 2021, Waller caught 55 passes for . He had two straight 1,100-plus yard seasons.
The Raiders would only have three players at the position if they traded Waller.
Las Vegas wouldn't make sense to trade Waller at this point. The Raiders brought in Adams to help them win a Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Clippers are all expected to compete for the division title in 2022, making it difficult for the Silver and Black to win. They are in a better position than they were a year ago.
