While he jumped ship on the Boston Celtics after the first round of the NBA playoffs, Nets guard Kyrie Irving doesn't plan on leaving Brooklyn any time soon.

Irving said after the Game 4 loss that he didn't plan on going anywhere.

Irving will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2022-23 season. He told reporters that he plans to re-sign with the Nets.

He said that managing the franchise together with Joe and Sean was what it meant to him.

Irving has made those comments before. He told reporters last month that he wanted to build a legacy with Kevin Durant and that he loved playing for the Nets.

Irving said that he loves where he is and that he will have some conversations once the weather warms up.

The Nets signed the 30-year-old to a four-year, $141 million deal in hopes of winning another NBA title. That hasn't happened yet.

Brooklyn has not even reached the Eastern Conference Finals in the three seasons that Irving and KD have been together, despite holding some of the best odds to win a championship.

Irving has been good for the Nets. Despite being unable to play in most of Brooklyn's home games because he wasn't in compliance with New York City's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, the seven-time All-Star still played.

The addition of Ben Simmons, who has yet to debut for the Nets since being acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in the James Harden deal, could make the team look completely different next season.

Brooklyn will have a chance to avenge its first-round loss to the Celtics in 2023 if Irving continues to play at a high level and the pieces come together around him.
