The internet had some things to say about the deal.

Reactions varied from conservatives who celebrated the move, as Musk is a self-proclaimed "free speech absolutist", to people who joked on the internet that he bought the social networking site to stop a 19-year-old from posting about his flights.

One high-profile TikToker said that Elon Musk spending $43 billion to stop getting bullied on Twitter was insane.

Conservatives excited

Conservatives from President Donald Trump to Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who were both banned from the platform, have long griped about it, saying that it censors right-wing views.

Conservative users and politicians celebrated the buy as Musk promoted a looser approach to content moderation.

Anthony Sabatini, a state representative from Florida currently running for Congress, said that Elon Musk must be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The UK-based conservative TikToker made a video last week expressing his excitement about the acquisition, and the former U.S. Department of the Treasury official wrote about it.

Trump said he wouldn't return to the social media platform. She expected her account to be restored.

Misinformation, anxiety

Users expressed alarm about the increase in misinformation.

There are many models for where this site is likely to go. I am on those sites all day. I lie for a living. NBC reporter Ben Collins said that he was not going to like it.

In a TikTok posted Sunday satirizing those who were excited about the buy, one person asked if they just mean racism.

Musk wants toauthenticate all humans and reduce the number of fake accounts on the social networking site.

There were long discussions about how Musk could affect the financials of the company. The news was discussed in numerous rooms and on social media.

One NFT artist posted a picture of Musk locked in a golden cage with a caption that said "Riptwitter".

Eat the rich

Leftist frustration was caused by Musk using nearly $45 billion to buy Twitter and giving $21 billion in cash.

I buy the social network for 41 billion dollars. I don't pay taxes. A writer who runs an account that criticizes people in Italian parody posted in a flurry of messages about the Musk deal.

I make the people forget about my lawsuit. That's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's amore, that's a

Many angry people wrote about things they thought Musk could use the money for.

  • Pay off student loans of everyone in West Virginia several times over, from Appalachian podcasters on Instagram
  • Fulfill his promise to end world hunger for $6 billion, from Brian Tyler Cohen, progressive podcaster, on Twitter.
  • Cover community college for "every American for five years," said Nina Turner, former Ohio state senator running for Congress on Twitter.

The photo of Musk with Ghislane Maxwell, girlfriend to a convicted sex offender, was also posted on the internet, with people saying they were posting it while they still could.

A Musk spokesman said that Musk did not know that Maxwell was in the photo.

Joking about it.

Many of the jokes were based on Sweeney's jet- tracking account.

That is serious asymmetrical warfare. The kid spent $0 and forced Musk to spend a lot.

The world's richest man owns a social network. The second richest man has a post in Washington. They both still can't afford a good barber, likely referring to Jeff Bezos' bald head and Musk's disheveled appearance.

Some people on the platform have discussed leaving. The Washington-based journalist joked that he wouldn't quit the social networking site because he had depression.
