Delta flight attendants (FAs) are dancing in the streets tonight – it was just announced that they will soon be paid for boarding time.
FAs were not paid for the time passengers were loading onto the plane. Their duty time began when the plane door shut. They were paid a pittance of $2 per hour during boarding.
Flight attendants need to be paid for boarding, got over 163,000 signatures a few months ago. Maybe it was the power of the petition that Delta management didn't want to worry about. Delta FAs will be paid for boarding on June 2.
It is being called an industry first.
The amount of time it takes to board a flight varies from domestic to transoceanic. FAs will be paid based on the amount of time they have to board passengers for that particular flight.
It could mean a raise of up to $4,000 per year.
The announcement is here.

Some passengers don't know the rules about flying on a basic economy ticket. Delta was the first airline to issue a basic ticket, but their current version took effect in February 2015. Delta sold the tickets in select markets.

There are a lot of people who are entitled. You know the kind. They think they are better than everyone else. People are expected to bow to their will. The ones who might say, "Don't you know who I am?"
In travel.
Schoolhouse Rock taught me that knowledge is power. When Delta retired the MD-80s in 2020, I knew we would be on an MD-88 aircraft.
