Paul Canoville has acted as anti-racism ambassador for Chelsea. The club invited him to talks with bidders to buy the club

Lewis Hamilton should stay loyal to his team and support Todd Boehly in his bid to buy the club, says ex-cheque player Paul Canoville.

He said he is a huge fan of both Hamilton and Serena Williams.

The loyalties of the seven-time F1 champion and 23-time Grand Slam champion are a problem for him.

"Lewis is an Arsenal fan and that's a fact," Canoville said in a tweet.

He said thatSerena supports Real Madrid.

Lewis is the greatest driver of all time, and I will always support him in everything he does.

I think he should stay loyal to his team in football.

Hamilton said last week that he had pledged financial backing to the group that was interested in buying the club.

When he was young, Hamilton wanted to fit in and all the kids supported different teams. I remember my sister punching me when I switched teams, so I became a supporter of the team.

In a lengthy statement, Canoville said that the remaining bidders wanted celebrities involved in diversity and inclusion programmes.

The Boehly-led bid is by far the best fit for the fans and the club according to Canoville.

American billionaire Boehly, co-owner of the LA Dodgers, spoke of his passion for social impact around community outreach.

There are three bids on the table to buy the club.
