  • Samsung has begun rolling out the May 2022 update to the Galaxy S22 series.

  • It is currently rolling out to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variants in Asia, and will likely expand in the coming days and weeks.

When it comes to security patches for its flagship phones, it's a habit for the company to update them before other devices. The company has already started rolling out the May update to the S22 series.

The new update for the variant of the S22 series that has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip has been spotted in several Asian countries.

There isn't anything interesting arriving with the update aside from the latest security patch. Fortunately, the Dirty Pipe vulnerability was patched with the April update, so there are no details on what is included in the patch for now.

The move to a new bootloader version from v1 to v2 is one notable change with this update.

When it comes to keeping its best phones safe and secure, it's good to have monthly update patches pushed by the company. After the corresponding month has started, the Pixel lineup is usually updated.

The May update has a software build number of S90xEXXS2AVDD, which is just over half a gigabyte. It may arrive in more regions in the next few days, but you can manually check for the update by navigating to settings.
