Carlos Alcaraz is the youngest man in 17 years to reach the top 10 in the rankings, moving up to No. 9 on Monday a little more than a month before his 19th birthday.
After winning the Barcelona Open, Alcaraz rose two spots. He beat Carreno Busta in the final.
At 18 years, 11 months and 20 days old, Alcaraz is the ninth- youngest man to reach the top 10 since the computer rankings began. He was about a month younger than Nadal when he climbed into the top 10.
The youngest man to make it to the top 10 on the ATP Tour was just 11 days older than Krickstein, who made his debut in August 1984.
Alcaraz is tied with Nadal for the most titles in the year of 2022, with three, and his 23 match wins are second behind only the winner of 24 this season.
After finishing as the runner-up to Andrey Rublev in the Serbia Open, Novak Djokovic remained at the top of the rankings.
Since he first got there, Nadal has been in the top 10 every week.
Paula Badosa rose to a career-high No. 2 in the top 10. Badosa moved up one spot and Barbora dropped to third.
