  • A Rolling Stone report cast doubt on the claim that DaBaby killed a teenager in self-defense.

  • According to the outlet, new security camera footage shows DaBaby starting the fight.

  • The charges against the rapper were dropped after a key witness failed to show up.

A new video obtained by Rolling Stone casts doubt on the claim that DaBaby acted in self-defense when he shot and killed a teenager.

The artist, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was involved in a deadly altercation that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Jaylin Craig. The charges against Kirk were dismissed after a key witness failed to show up in court.

On Sunday, Rolling Stone published a previously undiscovered video clip of the incident that took place at a Walmart in North Carolina.

In the clip, Jonathan and Kirk are seen fighting with Henry and Craig. Kirk is thought to have started the altercation by charging at Douglas.

At one point, Craig is seen standing off to the side while Kirk tackles Douglas and strikes him.

It's not clear if Craig puts the gun away or pulls it out. Kirk is seen taking out his gun and shooting.

Kirk had a different version of events. He said in a social media video that he had been confronted by people who could have hurt him and his family.

DaBaby said that his daughter and son could have been hit. Let me see what you do, walk down on you and your family, threaten them, and whip them out.

Todd Owens, a defense lawyer, and a former North Carolina district court judge, told Rolling Stone that what was seen in the video does weaken Kirk's claim that he was in danger.

Owens said that going up and pushing a person who is brandishing a firearm is really, really risky.

Emily Baker told Rolling Stone that the situation might not be so clear-cut because witnesses claimed to have seen Craig with a gun.

Baker told Rolling Stone that the people rolled up on him and tried to roll him, but he had to defend himself. This video shows a fight that got out of hand very quickly, and that resulted in someone dying.

Rolling Stone ran a statement from a representative for the district attorney's office, which said it reviewed the police investigative file and agreed with the police not to charge Mr. Kirk further. This was due to the fact that prosecutors could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendants acted in self-defense.

Representatives for the rapper did not respond to a request for comment.

Kirk was involved in another shooting incident earlier this month, this time involving a man who he shot outside his home.
