The age of the modern comic book movie was ushered in by Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. In 2004, Spider-Man 2 received critical praise. Spider-Man 3 received mixed reviews, but Raimi didn't want to do another superhero movie. Raimi was offered the chance to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
I got a call from my agent telling me that Kevin Feige and the team at Marvel were looking for a director for the new Doctor Strange movie. When that offer came in, I thought it would be a good challenge.
The Doctor Strange 2 co-stars shared their admiration for Raimi and their appreciation for what he has brought to superhero movies in the video. The touches of horror that Raimi injected into the story seemed to impress Olsen.
The way that Raimi hints that the film is suited for 3D viewing is intriguing.
Raimi said that telling the story was a huge endeavor. It was shot with an eye towards that. I think it will be an exciting experience to go to 3D.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on May 6.
