This video may be upsetting to some viewers. Tyler Zombro talked to Jeff Passan about his recovery from being struck in the head with a line drive and his future playing baseball. (6:19)

Tyler Zombro, the minor league pitcher who was hit in the head by a comebacker in June, made his season debut for Triple-A Durham on Sunday.

Ben Zombro received a standing ovation from both benches as he returned to the mound for the first time since being hit in the head by a line drive.

The right-handed pitcher gave up a leadoff double in the second and then got three outs in the third. He threw 14 pitches.

The moment @T_Zombro24 was announced as the new pitcher in Norfolk, with both teams coming out of their dugouts to applaud Z.

I think it all came kind of full circle there and definitely was a symbol of me getting back to performing in Triple-A.

Zombro was rushed to Duke University Hospital after he was knocked unconscious by the liner against Norfolk. He was hospitalized for a week before being discharged.

After graduating from George Mason, Zombro signed with the Rays as a free agent. He has an impressive career record in the minor leagues.
