After a day of free flying in space, the astronauts will plunge into the atmosphere and land in Florida.

NASA's head of human spaceflight programs, Kathy Lueders, said on Friday that the spaceship will aim to undock from the International Space Station on Sunday.

The astronauts flew to the International Space Station on April 8 as part of the privately funded Axiom Mission 1.

We want about 2 days between Ax1 return and Crew-4 launch for NASA. 39 hours between operations gives us enough time to finish the work. If needed, we will adjust Crew-4's launch to ensure we are ready.

The trip home was delayed by a week due to poor conditions.

The astronauts are expected to splash down on Monday because the mission was delayed.

The Crew-4 flight will launch on Wednesday. The Crew-4's launch date will not be affected by the late return of the Ax-1.

The first all-private flight took place aboard the Crew Dragon spaceship.

The commander of the mission is Michael L.pez-Alegr, the president of Axiom. Mark Pathy and Eytan Stibbe paid $55 million each for a seat on the flight.

A second commercial mission to the International Space Station is expected to launch in the spring of 2023. John Shoffner will act as the mission pilot.
