An anonymous worker who spent 20 years in the superyacht industry has recounted eyebrow-raising tales to The Times of London.

One wealthy yacht owner liked to eat fresh lobster whenever he was on board. The worker said that his crew prepared it every day in case he showed up.

A worker told The Times that the bar stools on one of the vessels were made from whale foreskin.

The war with Ukraine has brought about tales of life aboard wealthy Russians' vessels. Wealthy Russians have had their assets targeted by the Western sanctions on Russia.

Many superyachts have designs that are ostentatious. According to the Financial Times, a superyacht craftsman told them that his wealthy Russian clients wanted interior designs with tropical wood and expensive leathers.

The captain told The Guardian that wealthy Russians used to make their employees take lie-detector tests to prove they had kept information about the ship secret. The captain said prospective employees had to sign non-disclosure agreements to get interviews.
