Thanks to their long- lasting battery and excellent noise cancelling capabilities, Sony's WH-1000XM4 have consistently been among the best headphones you can buy. It looks like the company is going to make a big upgrade. The leak shared details of what to expect from the WH-1000XM5.

According to the outlet, the next flagship noise cancelling headphones from Sony will have up to 40 hours of battery life. It would be an improvement over the 30 hours you can get on a single charge from the XM4. The new model will take about three and a half hours to charge, or 30 minutes longer than the previous model. The new model has an additional chip for ANC and a new set of drivers.

The most notable difference between the alleged successor and the original is a new design. The tradeoff is that the XM5 will have more padding on the earcups and a lighter band than the current flagship headphones from Sony. It will be interesting to see if the design of the new model makes it easier to wear over long listening sessions because a lot of people love the WH4 for their comfort.

There was no mention of a release date or pricing for the WH-1000XM5. The current model retails for $350 outside of sales. The addition of features like LDAC support and Qi charging made the Sony earbuds more expensive than their predecessors.
