According to an upcoming book by two New York Times reporters, the first lady of the United States was upset that the top choice for vice president was a woman.

An excerpt from the book "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future" was provided to Fox News.

During the Democratic primary, Kadla Harris criticized Joe Biden.

There are millions of people in the United States.

Harris was supported by several from Biden's inner circle. According to the book, Biden was told early on that Harris was most qualified for the job as she had sought the presidency herself.

Harris attacked Biden more harshly than any other major candidate. The Biden family saw it as a betrayal. In his assessment, that would work to Biden's advantage. It will show the country that you can be a unifying leader.

Biden had reservations about selecting Harris as a running mate. The book said Biden described the behavior of Harris and Willie Brown as "as the kind of thing that should be off limits."

Other people considered as a Biden running mate, as discussed in the book, included New Mexico Gov., and Michigan Gov., as well as activists and members of Congress from across the country.

According to the book, another candidate who pushed hard for the role was Georgia Governor and failed to pass the test, and was seen by Biden's advisers as a lost cause after she failed to win the race.

Abrams fought hard to win real consideration but never overcame the experience issue that Biden's advisers warned him about, according to the book.

The vetting process from Biden's team was "insane", according to John Grisham, the author of the book.

Lujan Grisham said that he was asked to sell him on being the vice president.

She told Biden that she didn't want to be vice president. This was not my idea.

The Biden campaign saw other candidates as compromising in the book. Harris was going to be the nominee.

Even with her history of targeting Biden, Biden's advisers considered Harris to be the safest choice for the White House.

A close adviser to Biden said in the book that white women and white men are incredibly racist. It was risky to do. It was the safest choice we had.

The book will be released on May 3.
