Nijel Pack, the top transfer in the portal, has committed to Miami.

Pack visited Ohio State and Purdue in recent weeks and chose the Hurricanes.

Pack said he felt like he could thrive in the program because of the way Larranaga allows his players to play with freedom and get up and down the floor with an NBA style offense.

Pack, a point guard from Indianapolis, was the top transfer remaining in the portal.

After Bruce Weber stepped down as the head coach of Kansas State, Pack left the school and was replaced by a long-time assistant.

Pack said that the ability to play on the ball and show NBA teams he is a true point guard was the most important factor in his decision.

He was the leading scorer for Kansas State last season, shooting 43.6% from 3-point range. He scored 35 points against Kansas in January.

Pack was named the Most Improved Player in the Big 12 after leading the league in 3-point percentage and 3-pointers.

His ability to pull up off the dribble almost immediately after crossing half-court made him one of the most difficult players to guard in the Big 12. He is a dangerous weapon coming off screens.

He is one of the best players in the country, as well as an excellent young man with an elite work ethic. Nijel is a high-level scorer with elite shooting abilities and also a superb defender. We are thrilled to have Nijel and his family join the Miami basketball program.

After winning 26 games and making the Elite Eight as a 10-seed, Miami is coming off its best season in program history. The team played a unique style with five shooters on the floor for long stretches, and no true big man, which made it difficult for opponents to match up. Kam McGusty and Charlie Moore are both out of college eligibility, and second-leading scorer Isaiah Wong is testing the NBA draft waters, giving Pack a significant opportunity to step into.

Larranaga has had success with smaller point guards, like 5-foot-11 Angel Rodriguez, who became an All-ACC player after transferring from Kansas State. Pack wants to be the next undersized guard to have success in South Florida.

The guards like myself, like Charlie Moore, are an example of what Coach L has been able to achieve with them.

Pack entered his name in the NBA draft in the year 2022.
